Asheville Luxury Real Estate - What does over $3M look like?

French Country Estate in Asheville

Location: A cul-de-sac nestled in the sweet spot of Beaverdam Valley in the North area of desirable Asheville, North Carolina.

The home is located just 3 minutes from The Country Club of Asheville, 5 minutes drive from The Grove Park Inn, and about 8 minutes from the center of Downtown Asheville.  Close to all the activities of downtown, yet a private retreat on over three acres which include a small vineyard, a creek running through the back of the property, and lush landscaping with custom designed water feature - a botanical garden in the spring.

This one of a kind estate was the creativity and vision designed by one of Asheville’s prominent custom home designers Mark Sinsky and brought to life by renowned local builder Robey Wright and a team of hand selected local artists.  One of the best built homes from top to bottom, this is one of the last masterpieces built by Robey Wright.

The Vision: “The home is a simple French Country style, unlike so many of the overdone French country homes you find in magazines. It is designed to fit perfectly on the site and take full advantage of all the property has to offer.  It is the finest work of Builder Robey Wright who was known as the finest builder in Asheville up to his retirement. In my 20 years, I have designed many of the very best homes here in Asheville. Of all of them, I’d have to say this is the home I am most proud of and feel it presents the most enjoyable environment in Asheville. ” Mark Sinsky, AIA

Mark Sinsky’s designs can also be seen in Biltmore Forest, The Ramble of Biltmore Forest, The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, Balsam Mountain Preserve and Reynolds Mountain.

The Completion: The estate offers more than 9,000 square feet of living space, yet presents a very livable and comfortable floor plan. Everything a couple needs is all on the main level.

The Interior: Upon entering the home, the foyer is a preview of the well thought out and planned features of this home.  The foyer showcases the spacious living room complete with beautiful hardwood floors, 23’ soaring ceilings with ash wood detailing, an over-sized fireplace, custom iron details from a local artist, and faux finished walls painted by a local artist.

The study, located off the living room, is truly a work of art.  The beautiful ebony diamond inlays in the coffered ceiling, the Honduran mahogany wall panels, and the custom built-ins were created by local craftsman Carl Giesenschlag with Wildwood Studios in Asheville.

The beautiful living room opens to a dining area designed to create the perfect venue for dinner parties.  The dining room also features a custom made iron chandelier and overlooks the wine cellar located on the main level. The temperature controlled wine cellar with designed etched glass wall is perfect for showcasing a collection up to 1,000 bottles.

The Great Room with a Grove Park Inn inspired fireplace on one end of the room and a similar stone chase on the opposite, housing a plasma TV is a large and open space, great for entertaining, yet the rounded wood trusses with French doors and windows on all sides, makes the room an equally intimate space for two. The great room also features custom lighting, access to the stone terrace, and custom built-ins running the full length of one wall with a sunken serving bar. A large screened porch that features its own fireplace and grill center is accessible from the great room, the stone terrace and the master bedroom.

The gourmet kitchen with attached breakfast room has equally impressive cabinetry, not overdone, but with the feeling of substantial quality. The kitchen features side by side Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer, granite countertop on the island with vegetable sink and warming drawer, Wolf gas range, double drawer dishwasher, walk-in pantry, and large windows overlooking the expansive yard. Located beyond the great room is the spacious master suite complete with private sitting room and double sided fireplace.

Master Spa Bath features a jet tub, dual European inspired showers with rain shower and multiple shower heads, two separate vanities, two water closets, and custom light fixture. Off the bathroom is a large walk-in closet that connects to the laundry room. Three bedrooms and two baths on the upper level: including the guest suite with private sitting room and private balcony.

Entertainment level offers a stone fireplace, full bath with steam shower, room for pool table, media room, and/or exercise room.  This level also offers a large, separate unfinished storage area.  French doors lead to the covered terrace, outdoor soaking pool and greensward.

The Estate Grounds: The property offers mature trees along with the addition of exotic trees including Japanese maples. A local landscape artist designed a water feature along with a custom river-rock walking path with a mix of stones leading from the home to the creek.  The creek bank has recently been cleaned and re-seeded on the home side.  Take in all the views of the estate from the custom designed arbor with two benches or from the swing located along the creek bank.

Parking: The home offers a triple garage on the main level with the addition of a two car showroom complete with Italian tile and custom plaster wall treatment.
