This softening market makes the fall and winter an excellent time to purchase a house, from a buyer perspective. Viewed from a seller perspective, you should prepare for much longer times on the market while aggressively pricing and marketing your home.

The trend is hitting hardest at the high end, both in Asheville and nationwide. This is normal behavior in a declining house market but that doesn’t make it any easier if you are trying to sell a nice house. Check out this article from the Wall Street Journal about high end homes sitting vacant.
